The Difference Between Anger And Aggression

So what’s the difference between “Anger” and “Aggression”. Anger is a feeling that we experience, and aggression is an action that results from it. Similar to how sadness is a feeling and crying is a resultant action.

Not all anger leads to aggression. It depends on the intensity of our feelings an also our social upbringing. For example, you might feel angry at your boss or friend, but not necessarily enough to push you to take an aggresive action. If our parents were to fight in front of us when we were kids, we would be subconsciously taught to be aggresive whenever we get into an argument with someone.

How do you handle your emotions? Do you have a tendency to be aggresive towards people whenever you are angry? Or do you often have crazy thoughts of kicking someone’s ass? There are better ways to solve issues and dealing with difficult relationships which don’t involve violence. Know that we all have a choice in life.

Anger Management Therapy Mindset Techniques

The cornerstone of anger management therapy lies in not taking things personally. People’s views are usually a result of the state that their mind is in. For example, if your boss just found out that his wife had been cheating on him, how do you think he would react when he finds out you messed things up with a client? Alternatively, if you boss had just won a luxury trip to Fiji, what would his reaction be like?

The next time someone does something to your that you are uncomforable with, keep understand that their actions just reflect their inner state of mind, in other words the mood  that they are mean. It doesn’t mean that what they say is true. They might be just in a bad mood.

Also, the next time you feel like lashing out at someone, ask yourself – Do my actions really serve any purpose? Am I behaving how I am now because of my mood or because of the situation?
